Spending Saturday With Maggie

Maggie and I arranged to meet at 1pm at the Ueno station. She got lost. She told me that she was in Okachimachi and I told her I'd just pick her up. I combed the whole Okachimachi station's surrounding but I couldn't find her. What she was describing is totally different from what was in Okachimachi. So I asked her to hand over the phone to the Station Master. I asked the Station Master where she was. It turned out she was in Ueno-Okachimachi. A totally different station and a totally different line! Anyway, I took a cab to the station and then finally we met. I took her to Ueno and we went to the Tokyo National Museum.
The month's special exhibit : Shaping Faith— Japanese Ichiboku Buddhist Statues was very interesting.
From the ancient statues of the Nara and Heian periods to the unique sculptures by the Edo artists Enku and Mokujiki, this exhibit will focus on the tradition of Ichiboku Buddhist statues, where the Japanese people embodied their faith by carving Buddhist figures out of a single wood. 146 of the most treasured Ichiboku statues will be on view, including the famed Juichimen Kannon (Ekadasamukha, National Treasure, Douganji Kannondo, Kogenji, Shiga Prefecture, on exhibit November 7 - December 3, 2006), which is to be exhibited for the first time outside of its home.
