White Day Celebration, originally uploaded by setyr.
Japan no doubt has its unique culture and unique way of celebrating life and love. Valentine's Day is usually a chance for girls to 'speak up' and 'stand up' bravely to profess their love and interest in a boy. And then there's White Day, a month later, where the boys usually return the token of appreciation or affection, depending on how they feel about the girl, usually in form of chocolates as well.
This year was the first for me and T. We celebrated Valentine's in a snowboard tour and we had dinner at home (with me cooking). I didn't think we'd celebrating White Day because of his really busy work schedule. I thought I'd just be receiving a chocolate last Thursday, because we were meeting at badminton. He couldn't even drive me home because of work. Saturday early evening, he texted and said that he'd like to come over after work for some pasta, and he also wanted to bring me the migraine medicine (I was having migraine attack since Thursday night). I did prepare a bolognese pasta (with my own modified recipe) and bought some beer. He surprised me by bringing in a bottle of 2004 ernest&Julio Gallio California Red Wine, and his White Day Gift, a pair of Red Wine bottle from FrancFranc. I was totally surprised because I didnt expect him to prepare like that, and I was expecting some chocolates, which I was secretly dreading because I'm trying to shed some pounds. But instead, I got a really nice and timely gift. I was planning to buy a pair of these glasses because (1) my Robert Mondavi Red Wine Glass was broken and (2) I only had one and even though T. is not really very fond of it, from time to time, I thought we'd be sharing a sip. And so, for our first White Day celebration, he totally enjoyed and devoured the pasta I prepared and we chatted, as usual, with stuffs that has got to do with life, and with us.

On the side, I met fellow Pinoys who are passionate at playing badminton, it was really nice to play and get to know them. Living in a foreign country makes you crave for something that's authentically Pinoy. And we are now talking about going to Roponggi for that Eat All You Can Pinoy food.

Ray's daughter graduated from kindergarten, congratulations! Happy Birthday to you too, and to Dindo as well.

My girlfriends and I went to Omotesando to visit Aki's friend's hair accessory store. We then went for some Chinese food at her friend's restaurant. We were entertained by Yusuke-san, one of the people who serve there (and I suspect one of the owners). Girl bonding time is indeed fun, and important for working girls like us! I'm glad to have started this group and see it grow.

Junji, T's bestfriend will not be able to come to the Cherry Blossoms picnic. I wanted to meet him there, and so I share my disappointment. T said that his second cousin wouldn't be able to make it, I would have love to meet him for the first time, but then again, there's always a next.
