I was in anticipation of our Day 2 Yakushima schedule because for the first time I'll be trying on a wet suit and going deep down into the ocean. Even though T patiently gave me basic swimming lessons, I still can't swim...
So I woke up on August 29th trying my best to keep calm and not think about how nervous I am for this dive. The morning's weather was at my side as the sea was calm and engaging.
The dive master gave me a brief orientation under the Yakushima beach sheds and she tried her best to explain to me in the simplest manner what to do and what to expect. She said, 'just think about yourself as a bubble, the oxygen tank will keep you floating. The only challenge you will really have is how to depressurize yourself every meter you descent. It feels just like when you are in airplanes and your ears will feel the pressure, and you need to pop it out, if you can do it then you're fine!'. I happen to have lots of experiences in that department, so I figure, I'm gonna be fine.
