We faced the unexpected - snow storm! We drove at Interstate 90 and missed our exit and we headed straight to the heart of the storm. I admit it was pretty scary but I tried not to say anything because my friend is already very scared. Later that evening, I learned that there was an accident at I90 and that it was closed due to the heavy snow fall.
We reached the Bar N Ranch safely (thanks be to God!). The house was very cozy and there's a fireplace that warms each room. There's a living room where guests gather and watch TV, and outside the house is a whole 200 acres of farm land you can explore. We checked in, stroll around a bit and had a full bottle or red wine to warm us up. There are a few guests (as it is offpeak) and so we had the place mostly for ourselves.
More tips for roadtrippers.
- Check the weather forecasts and make sure that it's safe to travel.
- If you're planning a really long drive and it is FALL season, you may want to consider renting a 4x4 with snowtires, especially if you plan to go up the mountains.
- Stock up on snacks and water inside your car, you'll never know when you may possibly be stranded or delayed.
- Having GPS is really great, but sometimes you have to follow your gut feelings. GPS dont usually assess risks.
- Never cross out the possibility of re-route (possibly due to road closure or bad weather condition)
Enjoy the journey and you'll find most satisfaction when you reach your destination.
