Some Corporate Lingos

*Current*
'Tap' - In my current company, when you want to invite someone to a meeting you say I'll 'tap' you. Kind of like iphone huh, 'tap'.

'TB' - Stands for touch base. I guess it's America's affair with the baseball that when you need to discuss something with a person you invite them to a meeting with the subject XXXX TB.

*Past*
'Hearing' - When you want to invite someone to a meeting you put in the subject XXXX hearing...Maybe it's a Japlish (Japanese english) thing.
'1:1' - When you want to TB with a single person. Very formal huh. You go on a one to one conversation.
'VL' - vacation leave. In Europe they often say 'holiday'.

I can go on forever but my point is we may mean the same thing but depending on the environment we are in, we probably need to 'tune' our verbal & non-verbal cues so we minimize if not avoid misunderstanding.

I've been finding childhood friends, from elementary and highschool in FB. It is kind of funny that all I can imagine them are kids I played with, so when they talk about their kids I struggle with the thought that they are capable of producing one haha! Or perhaps it is just a kind reminder for me that I have walked and breathed for almost 34 years now ...Geez, now I feel old.
