Either This Or That

I am waiting for Japan Adventure's response if there's still available slot in the Feb 9-11 Snow Powder tour. Either I go there first and then fly to Manila or I fly straight to Manila to take care of some of my financial assets (naks!).
I am seriously thinking of moving to another condo for lack of space. I love Nakano, but the thing is, rent is just too expensive here. Either I stay away from Shinjuku or I can also move to Yokohama (if I won't mind an hour's commute). Hmmm. Tough choices in life!
Ryoko and I had dinner last night and she told me about her OJT experience the past two weeks in Home For The Aged. She said that the grandpas and grandmas she met were either driven away from home because of domestic violence or that nobody gives attention, they decide to live in a Home For The Aged. I'm surprised to hear that domestic violence is also done against the old here. Either I am just naive or that Pinoys pay more respect to the elderly. It is sad to hear about domestic violence because the very first thing you can think of when it comes to comfort and protection is home.
Talk about Home For The Aged, I passed by an old man in Shinjuku station who's either really drank or really starving. From the looks of him, I suppose he lives in the streets of Tokyo. There are quite a number of old people in Tokyo who lives in carton houses they make under the bridge or in the park, and my heart melts for them especially when the winter season comes because it's freezing cold out there. But then, people make choices in life. These people have choices to go to gov't operated institutions or be with their families. If this were a 3rd world country, I'll completely understand that poverty drives people to live on the streets. When you look at these elderly you have a feeling that it is something else. Perhaps people here have been trained into solitary..? I don't know. I don't fully understand everything I see. But as Tina Monzon Palma have quoted 'Your choices far more than your ability determine who you are.'
