I'm all for true to life stories of people who persevere, who rise above their own trials and triumphs to become a better person, a bigger person. Today, Daisuke Takahashi figure skater proved that nothing is impossible if we put our hearts and our souls into it. He stood at the 2010 World Figure Skating podium holding the gold. He only took the bronze in the recently concluded Olympics but that only motivated him further to improve and enjoy what he was doing. The key really is taking pleasure in what you do, enjoying every minute of it. I think that is what separate us, who have almost lost our healthy bodies to some people who have always been healthy. When we become too sick or too handicapped and we cannot do the things we used to love doing, such as skating, and in my case badminton, it really sucks. But Daisuke proved that not only could he go back from that horrible injury leaving him crippled for some time, but he proved to the world and to himself that he has the strength to come back, stronger and brighter and win! He is re-writing Japan's men's figure skating history. Whew - what a feat. 1st the olympics and now world championships. He will be remembered by many people for years and years to come. But I will remember him as my inspiration to get back on my feet, be healthy, be happy and be passionate in what I love doing.
To Daisuke, a really really warm congratulations to you! Keep that passion and keep that spark!
