I'm going nuts about this weekly reporting of all your tasks and all the monitoring that is being done on them, by no other than, guess who?? The CIO. Yep, yep, not just anybody but IT's top. Regulations are put in place so we can function harmoniously and normally, that's given in any organization, however small or big it is. But to be driving based on these regulatory requirements I think is stupid. Excuse the word but don't we all have responsibilities to keep the backbone of our businesses going? Projects to run, plans to revisit, tactics to monitor, plus the fact that our biz counterparts are demanding so much from us should already be filling our plates. They may have reasons doing it but even as a middle manager I don't understand why, and sadly they're not making any effort to be understood.
So, ok having these report present on his desk sharply at start of the biz week is one thing, but what are they for? Are they for reprimanding delinguents? Are they for easing someone's tasks with forecasting? Although we all know that these figures are just ballparks. These are just a simple math to spread out the 40 hours a week accountable for something, so what do we need them for? Compliance..maybe. I can only guess.
