One of the things I love about my company is that it gives me an opportunity to give back some of the blessings I have, to care for others as I have been cared for one way or another. Yesterday was Chigasaki beach cleaning day. Since Chigasaki is far, I had to wake up early at 6am and be out of the house by 7am in order to arrive at 9am at the beach. I met with my friend Nao inside the train and then K-kun at Chigasaki station.
The weather was so good, and the beach was so calm. There were kids starting to learn how to surf, dads fishing, and some surfers and jet skiers. After changing into our red colorful volunteer tees, we all headed at the beach for an hour of picking up hazardous materials such as plastics, cigarette butts and so on. It was a fun one-hour activity, after which we got together and collected all the trash and then we started the bbq party. Most of the staff who came were from the stores so I don't really know them. I was able to talk to an HR field manager so in a sense I got a new potential friend. We see each other at the CR but since we've never worked together we don't really talk. At the end of the bbq, I got an invitation for lunch with my new HR friend.
K-kun wanted to practice some skakeboarding so we agreed that we will meet him afterwards and he would give us a ride back to Tokyo since he's picking up his fixed car. Nao and I in the meantime walked all the way to Tsujido, a good 1 and a half walk did make for good exercise. We ended up spending an hour at Denny's near Tsujido station south exit and were just too tired to look for the bakery that Mike recommended me to visit. So, in the spirit of a relaxing Sunday,we spent an hour chatting inside and waited for K-kun to pick us up at 3:30pm.
The traffic was not so bad, thank God! And I was home before 6pm. I must have been really really tired that I just collapsed in my couch and the next thing I know, it was almost 9pm. I then prepared a simple eggplant topping dinner and afterwards tried watching Glee but to no avail (thank God for the latest tech called harddisk I was able to record it). After brushing my teeth and after a quick shower I happily jumped in bed, without any thought but to give my body a well-deserved sleep.
