I went to my favorite Thai massage in the world at Nerima (Natｔapon), last night. As soon as I walk inside the salon, their happy and smiling faces greeted me. It feels like seeing a friend or family member after a long time. I really like the hospitality and the sincerity of the masseurs who happen to be all Thai middle-aged ladies.
I had the usual 2 hours oil & thai massage combination. My aching body was treated to another 2 hours of healing strokes. Of all the massages I have gone thru, I really like the way Natapon women massages you. More than the very skilled strokes, you can feel that they honestly care about the person they are massaging. They will try to sooth the stiffness and the pain you are feeling. Best of all, they don't mind extending the hours, or if they can't, they will work in 2s to make sure they provide you the best service within the hour that you paid for. They never ask for tips.
Also, there are times that I don't feel good or is really tired from the humps and bumps of life and they immediately take notice. There was one time that they gave me a can of Asahi beer to make me feel a bit better. I really love these women. Even though Nerima is no longer my home, I promised myself that I'll still come to visit and have my Thai massage.
So, last night as I was about to go home, they all gathered and gave me a gift - a leg warmer, to show appreciation of my regular visits. They also asked me where to buy the 'balut', a Philippine delicacy of a boiled unborn/half-developed duck (I think). They said one of the younger girls like it. I promised to find one for them and bring when I get back.
More than the surprise present what I love about this massage salon is the genuine care that they have for their customers, a feeling that you bring with you home that is more than enough to get your warm amidst this very cold winter.
I highly recommend one to go to Nattapon. Maybe I should take a picture with them when I go back.
