さよならイツカ

人は死ぬ時に愛したことを思い出すか愛されたことを思い出すかに分れる。I shed buckets of tears today watching Sayonara Itsuka (Someday, Goodbye) with Mika.
Storyline? Love triangle between a man and two women (what else?!). A love story that started with cheating on his fiancee. Fling converted into something deeper. The poor fiancee bearing everything and saying nothing because she wanted to start a family with man.
Critic? The story has no solid foundation to make it believable. But then again, maybe it's this irony that makes it believable. Who can rationalize love and life anyway? The movie is too long. It tried to center around one's pursuit of love, his dreams, his satisfaction and family. Sadly I don't think it successfully painted a very clear picture but because the actors are good (kudos to Miho Nishiyama), one can easily cry with her.
The ending? Everybody's unhappy.
At deathbed, a person either remembers that he has loved or he will remember that he has been loved. I've never died before but the last memories I had before my 2002 surgery was that of Sunya walking with me in the streets of Nagoya City. The first memory I had when I finally regained consciousness from a snowboarding accident was that of Taka. What will remain last in my consciousness are the memories of how happy I was to have been loved. What about you?
