Double-standards.

If there is one thing that I have discovered in this past 4 months (really its been the whole of 2009) is that in spite of the personal problems that I have, I have a very focused professional mind. Not once did I thought of giving in and throwing away my work responsibilities. In the times that tears automatically fall while taking the train back home, I was brave at work. I congratulate myself for the tenacity. If only I could channel the same concentration and will-power in my personal life...

Shaun White did it again. He is undoubtedly the king of half pipe. I adore him for the constant innovation and his dedication to challenge the sport. He didn't play it safe, even knowing that he's got the gold, he tried a new trick. He believed in himself 100% and that is why he reigns. Japanese snowboarder Kokubo could have grabbed silver had he not put his hand out in his last air. Tsk tsk. Tough luck. His dad issued an apology via the media for his son's bad fashion taste and for disgracing the Japanese athletes suits. He wore the suit in his 'snowboarder/punk' self. His dad said that because of this, it might be his last Olympics. Another tsk tsk. Sure, Kokubo being somehow a celebrity should be a role model but come on, judging someone just because the majority thinks how he expresses himself is taboo is over the top. He obviously got talent. He's one of those boarders who can go up there higher than most. He's brave at the half-pipe. And he is a snowboarder, for crying out loud. Sometimes I really get irritated by society's double standard. Our PM is giving a very lukewarm hold of Ozawa who is in a lot of graft and corruption controversy. He will explain himself in his own time and in his own term.

Double-standards...
